Obituary of Stephen Duane Bales

Stephen Duane Bales, of Lawson, passed away peacefully at the age of 60, surrounded by his family, after the Chiefs AFC win, on Sunday January 24, 2021 at his home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan 28 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Rayville Christian Union Church 14459 Hwy C, Lawson, MO. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, Jan 29 from 11:00-12:00 PM at Rayville Christian Union Church. He was born on December 8, 1960 in Cameron MO, the son of the late Donald Wayne Bales and the late Joy Elizabeth Yoakum. He was united in marriage to Brenda Stephens of Breckenridge, MO on July 31, 1981. Steve was a graduate of Lawson High School class of 1979. His lifelong occupation and passion was carpentry which he learned from his father. He worked for his father for several years before starting out on his own. He owned his own carpentry business and worked various small jobs helping people throughout the community while also for a time at the Wilderness Camp and then for several years for the City of Lawson. He had a true heart for helping the elderly people in the community with their home repairs. He was an avid golfer and Chiefs fan. His second home was Hidden Valley Golf Course where he enjoyed many rounds of golf with his friends. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father and grandpa. He took much joy from being a Dad and a Grandpa. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Bales, two daughters; Cassandra (Jesse) Marshall, Kerrie (Alex) Albrecht, three grandchildren; Serenity Marshall, Kelsee Marshall, Andrew Albrecht, two brothers; Mark Bales, Dennis Bales, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Timothy Bales. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or Harvesters.
